Well, Raleigh's first week at daycare went relatively well for both baby and Mama. There were a few kinks here and there but for now we are happy. There are 8 babies in his infant class as of right now and two teachers. The infant/teacher ratio by law in the state of Georgia is 6/1 (crazy, I know). I can hardley handle ONE baby so I have no idea how they think one teacher can handle six screaming infants. So with Raleigh's class he has two teachers for 8 babies. That could change at any time if more babies come into his class or some graduate to the next age up class across the hall.
We have heard great things about the teachers in this class right now however we have heard not so great things about the class across the hall (the teacher in particular). He will graduate to that class probably around 5 or 6 months. So....we will revisit the situation when the time comes but plan to visit another daycare called Bible Baptist (everyone recommends this daycare) just to have some options handy.
I went to visit Mr. Raleigh every day during my lunch break. The first day he was wide awake and laughing at the ceiling (you probably saw that picture I posted earlier in the week). The second and third days he was sleeping (Mama was very sad that she had to go back to work without a snuggle) but Thursday and Friday he was awake and smiley. The teacher gave his some tummy time on Friday and she said he flipped himself over again. Glad I got to see that first at home!
We can't leave him alone for a second in his swing and bouncy seat anymore without being strapped in. He will plant his feet and push himself right up and over.
Raleigh has been teething and it tends to bother him more at night, probably because he is also tired. We keep this teething ring in the freezer and let him have a chew before bedtime.
It will be great when he can hold it himself. He does reach for things and grab things with his hands but he isn't to the point of holding something himself yet. Almost though.
Rico Suave....
Something new Raleigh starting doing this week is Razzing. He constantly razzes and spits all over you. It's totally cute!
More polka-dots of course.
He is the master of fighting sleep. Here he took a 20 minute cat nap. He doesn't sleep much during the day anymore, maybe an hour here, 20 minutes there. He is however still sleeping 12 hours through the night with two quick feedings in between.
His teeth were bothering him here. He's chewing on his fingers.
We had an awesome Saturday with our friends at Bonna Bella Yacht Club. It's really just a small restaurant on the water where you can ride your boat up and dock. The weather isn't too great right now but I can see how it would be a blast in the spring and summer. We enjoyed 3 buckets of oysters and even shucked them ourselves!
