Christmas Eve at the Levin House

Merry Christmas Eve! What a fantastic Christmas Eve we had this year hanging out with Raleigh. Devlin and I decided that this is the year we should start figuring out what Christmas traditions we want to carry out in the Levin house hold. After much deliberation....we decided the first tradition would be to bake some Italian cookies just like my Aunt Phil used to do. I can't think of a better (and more delicious) way for Raleigh to learn about his Italian heritage! The cookies in this picture are ricotta cookies.

Open wide!

The second tradition we decided on was to head downtown and get a family picture with the Christmas tree in Ellis square. Raleigh is noticably missing in this photo (he is obviously in the stroller!) but next year he will be big enough to weather the cold.

When we got home we decided to give the girls their Christmas present early. Devlin decided on a chicken flavored rubber treat. Look how they share in the spirit of Christmas!

Then Raleigh woke up from his nap (nice hair kid) and prepared for his Christmas Eve dinner....

Yum.

And finally, the third Christmas Eve tradition Devlin and I decided on was.......Beef Wellington with gorgonzola! While Devlin prepared the filets to a nice rare temperature, I made the mushroom, shallot and garlic filling. We then put a layer of gorgonzola cheese, mushroom mixture, and finally steak and wrapped them in a pastry sheet.

20 minutes later....golden brown.

We drizzled the wellington in a beef demiglace and paired it with a 4 mushroom and panchetta salad. Sooooooooo good.

This picture speaks a million words and they all mean YUMMY!
