We have a lot to report from this past week. First of all....Sierra (our 11 year old black lab) had emergency surgery last Friday night (10/8). Her stomach twisted....most people know it as "bloat". Luckily we got her to the emergency vet within 30 minutes of it twisting and they had her in surgery 10 minutes later. She was in surgery until 2:30am Saturday morning. They gave her a 50/50 chance and she pulled through! It has been over a week now and though she is still healing with tons of stitches and staples, she is proving to be quite resilient. Every day gets a little bit better and she is now eating twice a day again. Today was the best day yet as she was playing with Kentucky a bit and acting more "normal".
My mom also came into town this weekend! I had another memory lapse and totally didn't take the camera out all weekend to record what a fun time we had. I really need to work on that! We accomplished some seriously overdue shopping, walked around the fountain at forsyth park, and ate a lovely dinner sitting outside of Six Pence Pub downtown. So much fun! We hated to see her go but we know she'll be back basically any day when Raleigh decides to grace us with his presence!
Today, our "dog park family" threw us a baby shower. We love our DP friends! We ate and opened gifts while the dogs played for a few hours. Of course, Sierra is still recouping at home so Kentucky was on her own. Some of the food involved you ask? Mac n cheese, hot dogs, sausages, chili, pulled pork, pork and apples, 7 layer dip, cuppa cuppa cuppa dip, cupcakes, chocolate zucchini bread....I'm sure I'm leaving something out!
Everything with me and Raleigh is going well. Our 36 week appointment last Thursday was right on track. Just counting down the days. My only complaint is general uncomfortable-ness. My left leg/ankle where the blood vessel busted gets very achy by the end of the day and I need to get off of my feet but besides that, I feel happy that all has been normal. At this point we are flying high with the anticipation of meeting our son. He is very very active and it's hard to pin point his awake/sleeping patterns these days. Seems like he's awake a lot more than he's a sleep! I very hungry all the time and look forward to feeding only myself again!
Check out some pics from the baby shower at the dog park today....
Here is Kentucky picking on another dog.

This is Lucy. She is a mastiff who is over 100 lbs!
Here is Dolly, showing off for the camera!
Riley thought if he stood at the dinner table long enough, maybe a cupcake would make its way into his mouth.
